does anyone know if the iPhone can be used as an iPod when connected to an Alpine deck with ipod connection?
i dont see why not, but usually when an update like this happens some new software / hardware is needed. if not its no big deal as i still have my ipod. just curious

Yep you can but it more than likely wont charge. I emailed apple and asked why the fuck my iphone doesn't charge on my AVN6000 Deck, my V2000 Deck or my Sonic 3 iPod alarm clock. Their reply... we changed the charging method from firewire to some other fucked up method. I am not happy and I hope somebody finds a hack so we can charge our iphones through our existing components! |

Yeah, it doesn't charge through my iTrip either Dan. It also puts the phone in flight mode which is pretty annoying.
Fingers crossed there is a way it can be used.

I plug mine into my stereo. Charges and asks before going in to flight mode. The only thing is you don't have all the same options witht he shuffle etc.

Mac only at the moment.
Windows version will be 3-4 weeks away if anyone makes it. Either downgrade back to 1.1.4 or search around and find the way to do it on a Windows machine...

Most accessories will ask you to either put you phone into flight mode. You can just ignore it or press no and it will work like normal, they say you may notice a TDMA noise (small beeps) occasionally.
This is Apples way of trying to make you buy original accessories
