For $399 can i get something better? I reckon they do sound pretty good, only problem is you cant could hook up a CD player to it :/

Mate I did a lot of research re Ipod docks and the Bose Sounddock didn't rate that highly. I ended up with a JBL and am pretty happy with it. You can hook up a CD player to a JBL, but why dont rip em all to yr IPOD?

I agree... price is the only thing that people complain about.. IMO bose ipod speakers are probably the best one out there.

$100 max - Get's you a set of Apple RCA leads and a charger, can connect to any decent stereo with rca outputs! I do this with our home stereo, cant imagine any docking station thumping that hard

Actually there are two models of the Sounddock, they have just brought out a more recent one which has been getting better reviews. i seem to remember the old Sound-dock was never criticised for sound quality only for not having enough input/outputs, which is no big deal really. So forget my earlier post!
