No - Transit Police have similar powers to Police - Guards have SFA.

Transit Police And Transit Guards
Transit police have powers similar to police officers on Transperth property. They can arrest you or give you infringement notices for being drunk, trespassing, acting violently, offensively or in a way that puts others in danger. This includes powers to search.

Transit police can remove you from the train for getting in the way of other passengers, destroying property, causing a disturbance, not paying correct fares, having an invalid ticket or failing to give your name and address.

Transit Guards are not police. They do not have police powers but will call transit police when needed. Transit Guards have the power to check you have a valid ticket, have paid the correct fare and can issue fines and infringement notices.

That's not correct there is no such thing as Transit police ,only police officers who work in the police rail unit.
Transit Guard(now called transit officer) Have very similar power (not all) as police. They do have the power to arrest, don't get then confused with Chubb sercurity who also work on the trains as revenue raising with no powers.

why do I care.

Havent caught public transport in Perth since 1997 when I caught a train a couple of times.

Before that it was buses a few times in early 1989 just before I got my licence.

call them what you want - I say wouldnt do the job if you paid me.

Also still say, reading their list of powers, that they have SFA.
