yep spirit is stable and easy. what firmware are you running? make sure you do a full sync before using spirit, just in case.

If you don't know what firmware you are running, don't jailbreak.

Either learn a bit more first, or have a friend show you what is going on. Jailbreaking gives you full access to all of your phone, meaning you can then stuff the thing right up if you don't know what you are doing (ie. mindlessly deleting or moving files on the phone).

Also if you don't know what firmware is, you won't get much benefit out of jailbreaking.

Yeh ill wait till the 22nd, would have been nice to use it before hand. I don't have a MAC either so i can't create a custom firmware for it.

edit: I noticed itunes 9.2 has been released on windows today.

You no longer need a MAC to run iOS4 as iTunes 9.2 for windows is now available.

Download and install iTunes 9.2
Obtain a copy of iOS4 GM Build
Plug in your iPhone and back it up.
Hold down "Shift" and click restore
Locate the iOS4 GM Build file
Update your iPhone to iOS4.
