So how did your Aussie Day go ?
So how was australia day?
I went south foreshore with friends. To be honest there seemed a lack of atmosphere - and people wern't as enthusaistic as they usually are. 1 brawl - these muslim dudes got seriously bashed after starting shit. other than that pretty un-eventful. Also there was a lack of dudes shouting OZI oZI OZI - OI OI OI! like heard it proabably twice oh and the police on horses (about 6 ina line) fukn horses shitting everywhere was pretty fukt |

ever since the south perth (kill-joy) council stopped people parking on the lawns in south perth its become a dead events, the last few years its been the highlight watching people get out after the fireworks- lawns turn into shortcuts and gardens into makeshift beds for the night... none of that mischeif anymore

I stayed away, thankfully.
I would much prefer to see the Skyshow stay as a family / sensible person event only. I dont think it is currently, hence why i didnt go. Fights popping up when theres kids 10m away isn't cool. Im 100% Aussie (and damn proud) but for some reason i dont feel the need to wave an Aussie flag out my car window, wear aussie clothes or jump on the bandwagon for Australia Day. The small, Aussie flag is always raised outside my house. All year around. Half mast when called for. I do all the Aussie stuff (u know BBQ's, beach cricket, skids in commodore utes, wear king gee stubbies, sing along to barnsy and Waltzing Matilda et al) on a regular basis. Its cool to have some national pride but i think people tend to go a tad over the top. Last edited by Mat; 27-01-2006 at 12:45 AM. |

First off i went to a bbq at my mates house for lunch. Then we trekked it to go and catch the bus to south perth. after two buses passed us because they were full, we hopped onto a double and the whole thing was packed after passing 3-4 stops. People on this bus were going off! aussie aussie aussie chants happened every 5 minutes, we sang waltzing matilda and the anthem at the top of our voice! once we got to the foreshore it was orright, just lots of the usual stuff. catching the bus home was crap. the whole of canning hwy was congested, and it didnt help when little hard cunts decided to break windows and bash panels because they wernt allowed on (the fucking thing is full!) all in all it was a good night.

am blessed to live only a 15 min walk from mill point. Relaxed all day had a bbq in the evening and walked down for the fireworks. The last 5 mins is always the best so its worth waiting around for it normally, but yeah much much less havoc than past years especially with traffic etc.
saw a few wrxs too on the walk. Last edited by saturation; 27-01-2006 at 07:33 AM. |
