Hey guys, just got an 3gs and was wondering if i should update the software to 4.2? It currently has 3.1.3 which i was told is quite old, and then others are saying not to update???

Soz if its a noob question... not an electronic man!!

are you running jailbreak/do you want to? is the phone factory unlocked?

if you do not need jailbreak/software unlocked or think you ever will then go ahead and update.

You will find there are a lot of new features from updating 3.1.3 to the new iOS 4.2 firmware

upgrade it, they have the updates for a reason... why not

Don't no if im running jailbreak..... don't even no what it does! and i don't need it to be unlocked but would be handy down the track i would say!

just do the update then and enjoy

But on this topic, do any of the "Ikids" on here know if the 4.2 software has been cracked yet? I am new to the Iphone world and I bought an ebay special 3gs and found out it is locked to the 3 network.. I have been to a couple of the little shops in the centres around town and most said it hadn't been done yet, until 1 bloke in Carosel said it would take 2 days and cost $80 for a factory unlock..

Any advice?

4.2 has been cracked, google 4.2 redsn0w jailbreak for all your info
