Finished school - got into uni doing elec engineering/computer sci
Decided that sucked balls after 3 years (who would have thought i'd probably be rolling in cash now if i stuck that one out?) Took a year off - worked full time - went back and did management/marketing degree. Took a small world trip after that - came back to GFC - ended up getting property management cert and worked resi for 6 months (fk that!!). Progressed into Commercial property management for over a year. This is when I decided to take the risk - and start my own business. 6 months later and OCDetailing has steamed ahead, I wake up each and every day looking forward to the work ahead. I did it for the lifestyle change in order to get some balance. I've already gained that and soo much more. Still need more cash tho >.>

I left yr 12. Had no idea what i wanted to do.
I had a call centre job full time doing directory assistance for telstra. 1 yr later someone suggested doing an apprenticeship. Didnt want to be a brickie, sparky etc - found refrigeration & air con. Did my pre app while still doing telstra on the side. Applied to a "small" ac company called trane. Was accepted to be an apprentice after my pre app. Still work there now - different name -i have enjoyed doing it. Ive seen many things others havent & been paid to do it. Atm im in a lull and completely out of love with the industry & im weighing up changing career and moving towards driver training aimed at high school age kids so that the little shits stop killing themselves on our roads.

Worked in a bank for three years after leaving school and when I turned 21 the old man said I had had enough of the real world and had to go and work for him.
10 years later I am still here. Certainly has its ups and downs and truth be known if it was not for the parentals I would never have fallen into this game (construction project management) but it is certainly rather varied. Also it has given me the opportunity to go back to uni part time to finish off my degree. Brendon

I finished year 12 and took some temp work in the govt. with the intention of going to TAFE in second semester the following year. 8 years later I was still there and although I had a good job and earned decent coin, I fkn hated every day of it. I felt stuck and trapped too, couldn't think of what else I could do and studying wasn't an option due to mortgage etc. I took a big risk and used my savings getting myself into the real estate industry as a sales rep. It's very hard to start, and still pretty hard in a market like we have now, but I don't for one second regret the move. I love the job and the variety of it

so the pressure to find something to do 1 thing for the rest of yor life is a very rare thing unless you start you own business.. hmm very helpful guys.
My sister is currently doing a business management course. my idea was to get my mechanic cert work as a apprentice, finish the course, when me and my sis saved up enough rent a garage start our own business, grow from there buy our own place. when i become more of a "mature aged woman" move into the office, take on just the management less hands on stuff and eventuate to just the office while getting jnr's & staff to work out in the garage.... but I just got laughed at i thought it was a good idea, but others dont think so. Any opinions??

Started doing a degree in chemistry, worked part time at Hungry Jacks & construction work whenever I could pick it up. Also did casual work for a construction estimating company.
Fell into construction. Dropped out of uni. Got a two week casual job in a planning department which turned into four years. That was 21 years ago. Have worked in every role now from labourer to Managing Director, from TA to Project Manager. Don't be afraid to extend yourself, put in the work required to do a harder job & you will reap the rewards for it.

+ for marrying well
enroll in a commerce degree, shack up with someone who is going to be a stock broker may end up dumping you for hookers and cocaine jordan belfort styles if he takes a job at Macquarie nah seriously do what you love doing, i work in construction management and i love it. how i got there, did year 11 TEE, decided screw this dropped out of tee subjects and did year 12 non tee had a ball in my final year, got awesome non TEE grades lol. (wanted to get into business management at that stage). worked at beaurepairs for 6 months as i applied for a 2ic trainee ship as I always loved cars., well that was shit $8 an hour, I was getting paid more when I was 15. Driving the occasional epic car didn’t cut the mustard. quit that went to tafe full time which was 4 days a week, on the 5th day of every week would work at a government owned, private run fabrication yard / load out facility in Henderson in site ops and maintenance. Ended up working their full time upon completion of diploma and taking on capital improvement projects. Did that for 2 years, and applied for a job at a large civil construction firm. Did diploma of engineering (generic), diploma of civil construction, diploma of project management (Mr Diploma) while working with them at night or by correspondence in my own time. plan is to do a degree in Construction management at curtin but i mainly work regional, but so far has not hindered my progress in the industry. Have worked with them nearly 3 years building bridges, monster concrete tanks for water corp and works on a LNG project in the Pilbara. My last day with this company is this Friday, On the 28th of this month moving to Queensland as a project engineer with another civil company to work in Mackay coal fields doing various civil works. Then hopefully the goal is for me and company is to move onto work on the Gladstone LNG project(s) when they are firing at the end of the year. So once again I sort of just fell into this field, but I stuck with it because I love what I do…… find a job you love doing, work hard and the success will follow. Failing that go back to my Plan A
