I've worn lycra, and I've not worn lycra. I can promise you, for those who haven't ridden in Lycra, it is 10x more comfortable, but as many (if not more) times more gay. As Tris said, I wouldn't wear it down to the coffee shop on a social ride, but if I was going out for a ride for 'fitness' or 'training' then I would probably wear it.
I have a rule. If I am riding over 30km, then lycra shorts at least (under boardies if I am meeting up somewhere afterwards) anything under 30km is no padding, no lycra, no homo! |

We get given shit and abused by rednecks on the road because they think we look "homo" in kit. When those lazy pricks do a 180km hills loop in their Unit boardies and wifebeaters, we'll see how the pull up the next day... |

and a shirt i was not sore or chaffed. my nipples didnt bleed. my shirt didn't whip around and cause me to crash. If you want to wear lyrca, wear it. Stop bleating on that it makes a huge difference. it does not. xox tris saying no to labor and lycra.

Do a few 600-800km+ weeks consecutively, in your fox shorts and shirt and tell me if you're still of the same opinion. When you are on the bike day in day out, Lycra + padding + chamois creme is the only thing keeping you out of hospital with an infected saddle sore. I'm not being extreme, people I train with have been put out of action for months because of it. Lycra is a case of form following FUNCTION, Not because we want to look "homo". /end debate. |

No it doesn't end the debate cadel. Those fox shorts (just above the knee) have a liner with padding. I'm proud of you that you ride 600km a week. I have a job and Uni full time.

I study physio full time and work part time too,
What does that have to do with how far I ride? I'm not rattling off numbers to brag- im stating facts about products that I've learnt from my experiences cycling. |

Lycra is great. For anyone that doesn't like it big woop. Most people commenting about the Lycra don't ride. So get over it. You're not wearing it. I love wearing Lycra at cafes. Show off my epic quads. Lol
