they're currently in the process of fucking up murray street, with the closures for roadworks currently reducing it to a grid locked single lane, soon it will be a single lane 100% of the time, I can't see thins working unless they convert hay st to 2-way also = nightmare
if its not broken, dont fucken fix it & dont get me started on wellington street, use to be 2 lanes upto west perth & 2 onto freeway north, now we have a really wide footpath with a few parking bays & 1 lane feeding the freeway south/elder street & west perth & 2 lanes to freeway north, so fucking retarded i'm just glad i have the option to start at 6 & be gone by 2, peak hour would rob at least 2 hours of my day shunting in the mitchel carpark not many things push my buttons Ian, i think you've just hit the nail on the head |

They really should just shut the whole CBD down at once. Trains, roads & foreshore and just fix it all in one go. This should aleviate the congestion. {note sarcasm}.

Toll roads would be being pushed by the corporate sector and being sold to the govenment on the basis of relieving the State of some fiscal burdon. In truth though there is money to be made in the roll out of these facilities and also with ongoing maintenance and administration. At the end of the day it will only cost the public more.
In reality many other states already have toll road systems. Generally though, these are installed to fund capital works on the principal that once all is paid for, the systems are removed. Once in place these stick around for years. Using it as a deterant for access to the city is rediculous given there are a lot of people who simply pass through. Instead of working on so many projects at once, and dawing the congestion card, they would do well to finish these projects, one at a time. It seems like half of Perth is currently under construction at the moment. No money to finish it and occassional evidence to suggest they are actually working on it.

Tolls are meant to support a privately funded roadway that replaces/reproduces a poor road system with a more efficient and faster option. I see nothing occurIng that allows for that option to occur. I won't be supporting payment to use an existing inefficient roadway already paid for with our taxes.
I agree with the view that if Perth drivers actually learnt how to keep left, merge correctly and keep an appropriate speed (not driving less than 20km below the speed limit) that were enforced appropriately we would have a less congestion on our freeway systems.

toll ways. If the councils around the place stopped fu*k1ng up the existing traffic flow then we won't need tolls for some time to come. City of Perth: either put the roads back to the way they were OR stop approving more car bays.
