Default Paintball guns

Lately ive heard a few rumers going around that soon you would be able to buy paintball guns without a gun licence permitting that you are 18+. I dont really believe that this is entirely true but i was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this topic. i know that there a few members of the law on these forums and i would be interested to hear your professional opinion about this subject
thanks

ive been looking into it for a while, havent checked recently though, but for the last 2 years, its said that they were going to relax the laws on them, but as of yet, i havent heard that they had..

Extract from the police website in regards to paintball markers/guns.

Can I have a soft air firearm (rifle or handgun) without a licence?
No. Soft air firearms, also known sometimes as "air soft toys", are defined as a firearm within the definition of the Firearms Act 1973, amended 1996. Therefore, in Western Australia you are required to be in possession of a licence for a soft air firearm. Should you not want a licence and wish to dispose of a soft air firearm, an on-going amnesty exists wherein you can dispose of the weapon at a police station.

You need a firearms liscence (class C?) to purchase and possess a paintball marker. You can however use one in a liscenced venue (paintball skermish, or any paintball place) without any liscence.

There's a 28 day waiting period and 28 day cooling off period for purchasing markers. As with normal firearms the have to be kept under lock + key in an approved firearms storage cabinet.

All the forms are available from ur local cop shop.

PM me for more info.

It's a class E licence that you require and no, you will never be bale to buy one without a licence. To get a paintball marker, you go through the same situation as if you were apllying for a normal firearm. 28day cooling off, answer the questionaire correctly, have an approved firearm cabinet to store the paintball marker in etc etc. Ammo doesn't have to be stored in a gun cabinet but the marker itself does.
