Final nail for the NT!
130kms is still better than 110 of course, That way you can still sit on 145kms comfortably which for most people is better than 170+. Who wants to travel 800kms when you can only sit on 100 Experience tells me its bloody boring. I wonder what causes the majority of road deaths in the NT.. Im pegging it isnt speed related.. DD and lack of seatbelts would be up there for sure! |

Thats fucked Clair Martan's a silly whore who wouldn't even realize if her tits were on fire. Yeah N.T.'s tourism WILL suffer Kakadu is overated theres no surf (not that you can go in the bloody water anyway) and its stinking hot all the bloody time the only good thing was the open speed limits. As for them bringing in red light cameras what a joke they allready have one up there and it doesn't work Too much humidity in the air shorts out its circuitry. Their road toll is so high because like here and most other places its lack of education shit when i went and took my L's test a friend of mine told me to hold the question book up to the light and all the correct answers were circled and they were and as far as i am aware they still use the same books.

They actually do it all on computers now
The road toll is so high up there because of the natives! A month or so ago 30 odd aboriginals fell asleep on a major highway (drunk) and got taken out by a big rig, theres 30 right there...

The speed limits on the EU hwys may be 130kms but i bet its not 800+/- kms between towns! |

Maybe not 30 natives but it does happen and quite often. Also full troopys in single vehicle rollovers.
I have not seen any statistics to say how many people were killed in the unrestricted speed limit area. Most fatalities seem to happen in the city and are a mixture of DUI, speed and no seat belts. Single vehicle rollovers on dirt roads is also high, especially when tourists are not familiar with the high centre of gravity of their rental 4wd. So once I install the DMS coilovers this weekend and get some new tyres and a wheel alignment during the week I will be using my right to travel at a safe speed to suit the conditions (any speed you want as long as it isn't reckless like flat out in a monsoonal downpour). By the time the new laws come in, I will have moved to Perth. |
