I would goto police mate and report it, Get the guy done for Stolen goods.
As probably has other stolen goods at the house.

or what he could of done was he previously owned it
-sold it to you for the amount u gave him
-he rang his phone company, reported it stolen
-he received a new iphone AND your working hard cash

but i reckon contact him first and ask nicely for your money and bribe him with reporting it to the police

It doesnt cost as much as you think for a court date. $27 I think for a hearing. and around $160 for bailiff services. Both of which you can claim off him on top of the money for the phone.

Sounds like too much hassle if you ask me - most people tend to be forthcoming after about the 3rd consecutive yellow-sticker (placed on an angle) on their pride and joy (or so I've heard anyway). But seriously dude, I hope you get your money back or at the very least get your moneys worth in seeing him learn his lesson the hard way.

Ive tried asking nicely he doesnt want to here it, ad he tried intimidating me saying he knows "big contacts". Well i can take care of myself very well im not scared!

Im not stopping if he doest learn hs lesson now hell just keep doin this shit to other people.
