100 year old house for salvage
Hi everyone,
I've got a 1910 weatherboard house which is going to have a piece of heavy machinery smashing through it in about 3 weeks time. I've had a lot of people ask me about whats salvageable in the house, so I thought I'd put it up here to see if it would assist any PWRX'ers. Basically, there is available: - Jarrah floorboards (fairly average condition, may be good for resto or furniture making) - Original window frames and door frames - Light fittings and electrical fittings, TV antenna, etc. - Modern bathroom (less than 7 years old) - Modern colorbond roof sheeting and gutters (less than 7 years old) - Old box air-con mounted in window (still works afaik) - Lots and lots of weatherboard - Metters No. 1 woodfired stove with matching flue and all trays - Concrete laundry - Approx. 10 metres of undamaged and fairly new Super 6 fencing - Anything else you'd find in a 100 year old weatherboard house If you want any of this stuff, let me know and I'll be happy to show you through.. its located centrally NOR about 3km from the CBD, address to be provided to interested parties. It'll be cheap.. I'm talking money for ciders and such, better than nothing I suppose. I'll also take alcoholic payment. Cheers |

Shame,
From the front, looks like a beautiful old home in quite good condition... |

Don't let the looks at the front deceive you!
Trust me when I say its a piece of shit.. most of the rear and Eastern side weatherboard is rotted (although front and West side are good), the inside plaster is completely shot throughout, and the house is sinking on one side and requires stump stabilisation.. thats just at first glance, and then you've got the problem of all the windows needing new runners and ropes, glass has cracks throughout due to house movement, paint is all lead based, electrical in the house isn't up to scratch, kitchen is in dire need of renovation, etc etc.. by the time I spend 6 figures renovating this old cottage which wouldn't house my family of 4 anyway, I'm better off building something new. |

I think my Dad will be interested in Jarrah beams from roof etc. Doubt he'd pay for it though, he usually gets it all for free from contacts he has in the demolition industry. You know how to reach me
