4-5k - 2nd hand motor using your heads installed
7k - brand new ej207 (sean recently ran a 10 sec pass on one of these bottom ends stock!) installed

If your heads are damaged budget another 1-2k

Rought figures but give you something to look at.

Thanks for the info. Seems like a hell of alot to spend on an old wrx. I was going to try and get out of it as cheap as possible. My timing belt has slipped and it has a leak up the front end of the engine. I think it's a crank seal. Maybe i'll try and fix it and get it running again. It has 220k on the clock.

Regards Brendan

I'm going to Tokyo in a couple of weeks and might look for a 2nd hand STi engine (maybe even a new one ) while i'm there.
If it turns out that you need a new engine, let me know and at least we can save some $$$ on shipping.

Good luck with fixing it!

Yeah i need one for sure. It's at the mechanics now and it sounds like death. If you can source a engine for me at a reasonable price let me know. I would definetly be interested. hm 93091975 brendanstiling@iinet.net.au Let me know how you go over in Tokyo.

Japanese Wholesale Spares - 9302 3519. Speak to Alan or Fats and they'll be able to price something up for you to suit your budget.

Default New Engine

Thanks for the advice on where to go. I will have a look at both places and see what they have to offer. Do they actually do the work themselves or do they just sell the parts? And does anyone know if a sti conversion is hard. Would be nice to upgrade to something that can handle a bit more punishment.

Regards Brendan
