would certainly explain the underbody sealant that a TypeRA doesn't come with
|

Subaru Wrx Sti Type RA

so I was searching for info on the type RA when I stumbled across this thread as a guy has offered me what appears to be this exact car as a swap for my ute
RARE!! SUBARU WRX STI Type RA | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Joondalup Area - Joondalup | 1041516080 so is it a reshell? is it worth $10k? anything I should know about prior to buying the owner appears to have put about 20,000kms on it since this thread. |
Ask them for the VIN number and then you will be able to find out. If it is a re shell then 10k is way too much.
|
In this thread with plates BYN 752 it's a 1995 Ra but in the ad with the same plates it has somehow become 2 years older......
Reshell or confused seller! |
just sent the seller those links regarding it being a reshell
|
Run your hand under the spare wheel well. If it is bumpy it has sound deadening and is not an RA.
If it is smooth, no sound deadening, probably an RA. In theory a true RA should only be able to be B-reg here. Get the VIN from the VIN plate and check it against the VIN stamped on the firewall, it should reveal what it actually is. |
Its a re-shell. Think someone asked the same question on FB and it was found to be a re-shell
|
looks like a neat car in general, what would it be worth as a GC8 in general disregarding the claims of RA.
the dude I think is genuinely surprised it isn't legit |

I saw this too, they did a VIN check and it comes up as an Auto LX FWD Impreza. |
really what is it worth to you. to me 5 to 6k.
|
Much better cars out there for 10k

fuckkkk that, if it was re shelled into a WRX it would possibly be worth getting it at a reduced price. aint got time for a Auto LX FWD |
essentially the same body as a wrx regardless, its not like it has to be cut & shut to install the rear diff like a lancer, i don't think that detracts from the price, still worth 5-7 grand imho
|
Center Diff replacement from a dealership for $500? Worth checking that out as well.
|
i'd say that "Subaru whole sales"
= Japanese Wholesale ;) and $500 would not include fitting ;) edit: how to make a black dashboard look awesome, paint it white, then look at old pics, yeah looked awsome in black :D |
hahaha yeah i figured as much and had allocated a good few k to be spent on it at galvsport tidying up where required. have passed on this car and checking out a 2002 bug eye tonight.
