Thanks for all the comments, guys ^_^
@trblmkr: I love the oddball appearance. I reckon the vortex is pretty cool too, mainly because of the dash. I'm gonna give the car a good clean before posting up more pics. Kitty paws be all over the show. And like mattmy99 and Saint_23 said, it's an EG33 H6 (boxer 6). Basically an EJ22 +2 pistons. Tail pipes seem pretty restrictive. I'm still gonna opt for wide tips when I upgrade the zorst later on. @kid: *places hands on ears* LALALALALALALA! I'M NOT LISTENING!! @TheDoctor: Lucky buggers there. I've heard that there were only 12 in WA. :3 @Johnvk7: I'm seeing this as a future classic. I wouldn't really call the new costs "supercar pricing". Maybe "luxury pricing" would be more fitting? Though this was the 90s, and I can't say that the economy was the same as back then. @Strubaru: the auto box still suffers from over heating. I'm investing in a tranny cooler already for this and possibly research fitment of other auto gearboxes from Subaru into this. I just wanna keep this as a daily/cruiser with space for some fun. @teejay: Wanna lend some cash to support those ideas? :P |

Only 200 were delivered to Aus. The other 199 of them are probably in a scrap heap somewhere with busted big-ends.

I heard that it was 248 across Australia. I've seen a white and black one in Aberdeen street probably 3 weeks before I bought mine. I was in so much awe that I almost crashed. You could imagine the smile I have on my face, now that I'm sitting in one. DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

there's a couple on carsales over east, one even has 348,000 km on it, always a good sign
i notice they have the lower dash done in alcantara from the factory... so thats where tino got the idea from hate to admit it but when these 1st popped up way back in 92 i thought they were actually a limited run holden, i think it 's the VP esq grille that got me LOL |

The other seems like it's in similar condition (plus alloys) with +300xxxkm and is going for $6900 Seeing how people claim the eastern states get cheaper cars, I'd say I got a pretty good bargain. Hopefully the rest of my future cars will be grabbed at a bargain. There is quite a bit of alacantra, but my car smells of leather. Maybe I should put in some rich mahogany trim just for the sake of quoting Anchorman. I wouldn't have had that thought back then. I was still a diaper chocolatier :P |

Did u buy this from someone in Attadale? I remember seeing a Gumtree add not that long ago for one of these an in got me curious. I hope ownership works out for you as fixing any problems that arise could be an absolute nightmare. That being said it is cool having a car that is very rare, esp if it is in good nic. Something that most WRX owners would not get . . .

I'm going to do some preventative maintenance on the car. The weak points are transmission heat, wheel bearing strain and brake rotor warping. I've found a tranny cooler for $200, and some cheap wheel bearings. I'm still wondering where I should source brakes from. I could always go for brake sets from wreckers and drill/slot them. A lot of the problems in this car (including the above mentioned) come from the sheer weight (1600kgs of it). I'd like to keep the car luxurious to a certain extent, but there are quite a few things that could go. I've read the standard seats, hood, and boot lid are good things to swap to shave a few pounds. I'm not confident enough in my own skills to strip the car to replace sound deadening tar with "quiet car" The Key QuietCar Products but it would be an improvement. The exhaust is also a culprit in the sheer weight, but that would make way for a higher flowing system. Need.To.Get.Back.To.Work. |
